Introducing Coach Tom!
Tom Moore came to TPH as a member in 2017, with four years of previous CrossFit experience. He quickly became well-known in the gym for his super speedy gymnastics skills, impeccable movement quality, and friendly demeanor. Some of our evening classes have already seen him assistant coaching recently, and we’re looking forward to having him officially on the coaching floor starting next week!
How did you find CrossFit?
In 2013, I was mixing parkour classes and standard globo gym bro-sesh workouts (chest and tri’s, back and bi’s…and never any legs) when a Groupon for a foundations class showed up in my Facebook feed. I finished the on-ramp program, joined the gym, and never looked back. After experiencing my own fitness and personal growth develop, I knew I wanted to coach athletes to improve their lives in and out of the gym.
What is your favorite movement or WOD, and why?
My favorite movement is the Assault Bike — it’s just so good at reminding me where the holes in my fitness are. My favorite WOD is Cindy, because everyone needs a feel-good WOD every now and then!
What is your favorite movement or WOD to teach, and why?
The overhead squat! So many of the 10 general physical skills appear in the overhead squat, and when they all come together it’s a beautiful thing.
Where can people find you when you’re not at the gym?
In the mountains with my wife Kelsey and our dog Jackson, or getting crafty in my woodshop.
