1. Arrive early and stay late. Cheer, clap, and encourage others. Anything less and you will cheat yourself of the experience and rob others of the gift of your presence and support as part of the community.
  2. If you want to bring your kid(s) or dog(s) to the gym, please email us first to ask. We pride ourselves on being kid- and dog-friendly, but have changed our policies since COVID hit.
  3. Ask questions. Ask for guidance. This is a community! We are all in it!
  4. Know YOUR body. Everyone is different. There are some days to push and some days to throttle back. Sick, tired or injured? Stay home. Learn to listen to your body. If you feel the urgent need to come anyway just do some light movement. Less is more sometimes!
  5. Treat equipment with respect, but don’t baby it. Plates, barbells, kettlebells, dumbbells, medicine balls, etc. are meant to be picked up and dropped.
  6. We love our members and their families. Out of respect for everyone, please use common sense and be respectful in your use of language. This gym is yours, so help us keep it clean and welcoming by cleaning up equipment, sweat, blood, chalk, and whatever else you leave behind.
  7. Have fun, laugh, & smile a lot. Yes, you’re going to work harder than you thought possible. Yes, it’ll hurt sometimes. Have fun with it. Twenty Pound Hammer is your playground!
  8. Check your ego at the door. Don’t bring “it” into the gym. Sometimes it’s hard to let this go. Fitness is magical in its ability to wreck egos.
  9. Introduce yourself. Twenty Pound Hammer is more than a gym. It’s a community. If you see an athlete you haven’t met yet, please introduce yourself!
  10. Do not cheat. Do every rep, with solid technique, no matter the time it takes. You only cheat yourself of the opportunity to become a better athlete and person.
  11. You’re allowed to cry before, during and after the workout.
  12. Brag to your family and friends. You’re getting in the best shape of your life. You’re having fun. You’re doing things you never thought possible. Be proud of this.
  13. We are a community. Please do your best to stick around and support everyone until they finish.
