✨Member Spotlight ✨
Returning to our OG member series, say hello to Brad! Here’s a little bit about him in his own words:

💪Describe yourself using one sentence:

My now-wife’s bff worked out at the same gym and asked Steve (Monica’s TPH partner v1) for a scouting report when we first met: “Works hard, smiles a lot.”

💪 How long have you been a member of TPH?

I looked up my first email exchanges with Steve and Monica where some of us OG were invited to the pre-TPH storage unit further down Leary next to the knife sharpener who worked out of another storage unit. It was a month or two before the current location opened, there was still “the other gym” and the instructions included multiple “you do NOT talk about fight club”. I was just getting out of ACL surgery recovery so there were certainly some people there before me, but I suppose I’ve been part of this fight club since before day 1; our family xmas cards used to hang in the office.

💪If you could go back and tell your day-one TPH self one thing what would it be?

I would tell my day-one TPH self that I should stop thinking about being stronger now and start thinking about what I want to be capable of when I’m 80 and work my way back to today. It’s a mindset shift I’ve only just put in place. I don’t care about PRs any more unless they’re in service of matching my health span to my life span. Consistency over quantity.

💪 What’s your favorite thing to eat in Seattle?

Favorite food in Seattle is tough. I’ve been here 25 years and I think of it in windows of time. Paseo 2002-2010, Other Coast 2010-2014, El Camion 2014-2016… and then I had kids. I think the most underrated place near us is S/T Hooligans – just had lunch there with Carmi!

💪 What cool things have you used your fitness for outside the gym?

If I had to pick one sport it’d be mountain biking and I’ve been on and off into it since 6th grade. I’m also on a snowboard as much as possible type, usually 20-40 days a season depending on the year. It’s been a blast getting my kids into both.

💪 If you could design your favorite workout what movements would it include?

I’m tall, and for some reason I’ve always liked OHS and Snatches along with heavy farmer carry and very long grinder/chipper types. So I’d do some kind of 45 minute Bike/Row, Light Snatch/Squat, heavy farmer carry death march. Sorry not sorry!
