Twenty Pound Hammer will be transforming to Polaris Strength & Conditioning

We are so grateful to all of you who gave feedback in surveys and small groups. It seemed like the majority of you were open to or even excited about a rebrand. After a lot of brainstorming, iteration, and feedback, we landed on some key elements of a new name:

  • Unique – it needed to be our own, not just a neighborhood name
  • Strength in community – it needed to feel strong
  • Community – it needed to represent that we are a welcoming community who care about each other
  • Bonus points if it felt Pacific Northwest

We are huge fans of the local Orca pods. They are matriarchal families of intelligent, agile, and strong animals. But the name was too overused in fitness and local businesses. So we started looking at the names of individual Orca and found J28, Polaris. She was a mother with a uniquely scarred dorsal fin which made her easier to identify than the rest of her pod. And the fact that she was also named after the north star which has been a shared navigation tool for countless generations makes it even more cool of a name.

We look forward to building our own meaning behind this name as we build this community together. And we will also hold reverence to all the amazing things this community has done under the banner of TPH.

With that in mind, look out for new merch coming both introducing the new brand and also calling back to TPH. The process will take a few months as we work through updating everything from website to signage. So you’ll see us using both names during that transition.
