Coach Jorge

Jorge grew up in Chicago Heights, IL, playing sports and loved working with his hands.  Jorge’s enthusiasm for coaching began in college when he volunteered as a strength and conditioning coach for his Civil Engineer Concrete Canoe team and he has been coaching friends and family ever since.  He started CrossFit at Cross Twenty Pound Hammer in 2018, has enjoyed dropping in to CrossFit gyms around the world on his travels, and loves being part of the fitness community.  Jorge’s educational experience includes a couple of Civil Engineering degrees from the University of Illinois.  A lifelong student, Jorge continues to use his engineering background and enthusiasm for coaching to help our members progress in their fitness journey.

My ideal workout would include Assault or C2 Bike, any variation of shoulders to overhead, and squatting.

Outside the gym, I enjoy hanging out with my friends while cycling, hiking, mountain climbing, cooking, or hosting group workouts.  I am also passionate about volunteering in my community, helping others, and being a licensed geotechnical (tunnel and underground construction) engineer.  I can really nerd out about anything construction related and drilling holes in the earth 🙂

A really cool experience I’ve had is backpacking across Spain for a month on the Camino De Santiago — what a great post-graduation trip! More recently, I loved attending the spring 2025 Power Monkey fitness camp held in Crossville, Tennessee that opened my eyes to a whole new community of fitness professionals, training styles, and coaching techniques that complement CrossFit so well! I was very inspired to coach.
