Coach Lychen

Hi! I’m Lychen!! I grew up in New York (yes, I have opinions about bagels) and moved to Seattle two years ago by way of seasonal outdoor education work taking me from the Adirondacks to Massachusetts to Maine to Colorado, and many road trips in-between. I am passionate about all things related to movement-based learning, and I am always down to try out a new activity that gets me bopping around in new ways. It is an honor and a privilege to be coaching the TPH community, as this gym has been one of the most empowering and grounding spaces I have found in my life, and I feel so lucky to get to support the folks who work out here.

My ideal workout would be/include:
Heavy power cleans and ring muscle-ups…strict please!

Outside the gym, I enjoy:
When I’m not having the time of my life (literally, I am so serious) practicing gymnastics skills and hook gripping at TPH, catch me coaching the Youth Team at Seattle Bouldering Project, frolicking around the woods somewhere, or thinking about music, tea, farmers markets (I also work as a Farmers Market Coordinator), carrot cake and swords.

A really cool experience I’ve had is:
Competing with an incredible team of TPH humans at a competition last spring (2025)! There is nothing cooler or more fun to me than working hard at fitness together with people I care about. Oh, and once I tried to climb Mt. Rainier. Mountaineering is pretty cool too!
