Group CrossFit
What to expect when you come in for a group class….
Class Format
Our group programming varies from day to day, but more often than not our classes adhere to the following format:
introduction - what are we doing that day?
warm up - tailored to the day’s workout
skill/strength instruction
conditioning workout
cool down/post-workout stretch
Strength Bias
Our programming has a strength bias. This means most days will include a separate strength component before the conditioning workout. The reason we program this way is that in Seattle, it is so easy to go outside and walk, run, bike, ski, hike…you name the aerobic activity, and it’s fairly accessible. Access to quality strength training is a different story! Sure, you can find a pretty cheap gym membership and lift on your own. But at TPH, you’ll get
expert coaching on proper technique and injury prevention
intelligent, planned strength progressions to ensure you keep getting stronger over time
supportive gym community to inspire and push you to be your best
Who are our members?
Our members come from a wide variety of backgrounds and professions, and range in age from 14 to 69. A plurality of our members fall into the 30-39 category. If you think you’re too old or too young to lift weights…I promise, you’re not!
We cap most classes at 15 to ensure an excellent experience for both members and coaches. If you’re looking for a gym where you’ll be able to hide unnoticed in the back without anyone knowing your name…that’s not us. Our early morning and late evening (6AM, 5.30PM, 6.30PM) classes are usually the biggest, and mid-day classes tend to be smaller. Even at our busiest we don't run out of space or equipment.
About 80% of our members take group classes, while 20% are individualized program design clients. Between group classes, individualized program design, and private training, if you’re looking for excellent coaching, we’ve got you covered!
New to CrossFit?
We start everyone who is new to CrossFit with a private training session before joining group classes. The purpose of this is to evaluate your movements, teach you the foundational movement patterns, and introduce you to our training methodology.
After the initial 1on1, you’ll have the option to start a free trial week or continue with private training or individualized program design until you feel ready to join group classes.
Experienced CrossFitter?
If you have previous CrossFit experience, we welcome you to start with a free trial week. This gives you up to 3 classes in one calendar week. Every gym has a different vibe, and we want prospective members to get to know ours before deciding to make us their home gym!
